Initiatives
to fund schools and reform education around the country:
- Two of the largest school bond measures to ever pass
in the state of Colorado, including extensive research to
re-tool a failed 2001 initiative in the St. Vrain Valley
School District. In addition, our research helped focus
the Littleton Public Schools District on a message of emphasizing
maintenance of existing school buildings to save money in
the long-term– a theme which resonated among the older
voter pool. (November 2002)
- A successful and unique funding measure on behalf of the
Summit County, Colorado, School District. Our polling was
instrumental in structuring the initiative to not be viewed
as too “far-reaching,” due to voter concerns
regarding past fiscal accountability of the district. This
unique funding mechanism is now being considered by numerous
other school districts in the state. In addition, our research
helped target the message to focus on the “teacher
pay” component in the measure and how the initiative
would ensure accountability of the school district. (November
2001)
- A number of bonding efforts on behalf of community colleges
in California.
- Statewide public school financing measures in Ohio and
Arizona. For example, on the Arizona Education 2000 initiative,
our research helped refine the messages used in advertising
by the campaign to push for education funding and reform
in the state, including accountability measures to attract
Republican voters and seniors skeptical of the funding component.
