Lori Weigel is
a Partner with Public Opinion Strategies, the largest Republican
polling firm in the nation, with offices in Washington,
Denver and Los Angeles. Public Opinion Strategies' clients
include 56 Members of Congress, 8 governors, 18 U.S. senators
and numerous Fortune 500 companies. The firm is proud to
have won the 2002 "Pollster of the Year" award
from the American Association of Political Consultants,
for its work polling in some of the "toughest campaigns
in the country"
according to National Journal. The firm also conducts
corporate image, crisis management and public policy polling
for numerous national associations and Fortune 500 companies,
such as Delta Airlines, American Express, Proctor & Gamble,
Conoco, Pfizer, and the National Association of Realtors.
Weigel served as the pollster for the Rocky Mountain News
and News 4. Her polling regarding a dozen races across the
state pegged the final Colorado outcomes within the margin
of error. She also conducts polling for the national news
media with her partner Bill McInturff, a co-director of the
NBC/Wall Street Journal poll.
In 2004, Weigel was instrumental in the successful election
efforts on behalf of nearly a dozen common sense judges and
Attorneys Generals across the country. She primarily focuses
on polling for and against initiatives and referendum in the
West, including successful efforts for legal reform (Nevada
2004), stadiums (Denver Broncos in 1998), education reform,
land conservation, gaming and taxes. In her 13 years as a
pollster, Weigel has directed research efforts for hundreds
of political and public affairs campaigns throughout the country,
including at the presidential level. In 1998, Weigel was named
a "Rising Star" in American politics by Campaigns
& Elections magazine.
Weigel writes extensively on trends affecting campaigns,
including the popular POS publication "e-answers."
She has written on such topics as faith in America, gender
distinctions, and even cultural phenomenon such as the steroids
scandal in baseball.
She has lectured at numerous universities and women's political
forums, and has appeared on C-Span and the Fox News Channel.
She is frequently quoted on politics, including in The
New York Times, the New Republic, and other major
publications. Her polling has also been featured in U.S.
News & World Report, the San Diego Union Tribune
and the Chicago Tribune.
Weigel has also directed polling in over a dozen countries
on four continents, including at the presidential and legislative
levels. She conducted one of the most extensive and earliest
polling projects in Russia and Ukraine, where she also taught
survey research techniques to fledgling political parties.
Her experience polling on policy issues extends to such varied
areas as health care, energy, land use, recreation, technology,
litigation/trial consulting, corporate image and crisis management.
Before moving to Colorado, she polled for a Gallup affiliate
in Washington D.C., worked on Jack Kemp's presidential campaign,
and for the National Federation of Republican Women. She graduated
cum laude from Georgetown University's School of Foreign
Service with a B.S. in International Politics. An avid hiker,
sports fan, and film enthusiast, she lives in Denver with
her husband and 2 year old daughter.
