Gene Ulm is one of the Republican Party's leading political strategists and pollsters. Gene has extensive experience polling on behalf of successful U.S. Senate, gubernatorial, congressional and state legislative campaigns since 1990. His political clients include Members of Congress, mayors, legislative caucuses and business and trade-oriented independent expenditure committees.

In 2004, Gene was the pollster for huge campaign wins including Senator David Vitter of Louisiana, who made history by becoming the first Republican U.S. Senator from Louisiana in all while avoiding a run-off, and Governor Jim Douglas of Vermont, who held his opponent to fewer votes than George W. Bush in one of Kerry's best states (58.9%).

In 2002, Gene was the pollster for huge campaign wins including of Saxby Chambliss for Senate, Jim Douglas for Governor (VT) and Robin Hayes for Congress (NC CD 8). In 2001, Gene conducted the research on behalf of Jeff Miller's campaign for the seat vacated by Rep. Joe Scarborough. With Gene's help, Congressman Miller emerged victorious from a competitive Republican primary and soundly defeated his special election opponent.

During the 2000 election cycle Gene polled for three Congressmen on the DNC's most targeted list -- Saxby Chambliss, Robin Hayes and Steve Horn -- all of whom successfully defended their seats.

In 1998, Gene led Mark Green's winning challenger campaign in Wisconsin's 8th Congressional District. Congressman Green became the only Republican challenger to defeat a Democratic House incumbent that cycle.

Gene has also worked for many successful legislative initiatives. Most recently, Gene developed the polling strategy for the $7 million dollar effort that defeated physician assisted suicide in Michigan.

In past years, he has polled on ballot issues including taxation, gaming, health care, public education funding, and property rights. He polled on behalf of the campaigns that defeated single-payer health insurance in California and tax shifting in Wisconsin -- both slated to win by many pundits.
Gene has also polled on behalf of winning campaigns in New Zealand, Australia and Russia.
