Stephen
M. Kinney is a partner of Public Opinion Strategies, L.L.C.,
one of the nation's premier political and public affairs survey
research firms. His institutional knowledge, critical insight,
and
expertise in survey analyses contribute to his reputation
as a highly
respected pollster and strategist on the current scene.
In his home state of California, Kinney's political clients
include
or have included former Governor Pete Wilson, former State
Treasurer
and U.S. Senate candidate Matthew K. Fong, Congressman Doug
Ose,
Senate Republican Leader Jim Brulte, Assembly Republican Leader
Dave
Cox, and LA County Supervisor Don Knabe. In the Corporate/Public
Affairs realm, Kinney's California clients include the Association
of
California Insurance Companies, the California Farm Bureau
Federation, the California Restaurant Association, and the
California
Correctional Peace Officers Association. Kinney works extensively
with statewide candidates, legislative candidates, and local
and
statewide initiative campaigns. Since 1992, Steve Kinney has
conducted research in 48 of the state's 80 assembly districts
and 22
of the state's 40 senate districts. Whether on behalf of individual
candidates, the Republican caucus, or independent organizations
concerned with the outcome of the elections, we have been
involved in
virtually every competitive state legislative race in the
last
decade.
He also conducts extensive research for organizations, corporations
and unions that deal with government on local, state and national
levels. In recent years Kinney has worked with numerous development
projects finding ways to have these project be acceptable
to the
neighborhoods they will impact.
During the past thirty years, Kinney has been involved in
every
aspect of public affairs and public relations. He has analyzed
hundreds of surveys conducted throughout the western United
States.
In addition, Kinney has lectured extensively on survey research,
strategic communications, corporate relations, financial strategies,
and fund-raising. Moreover, Kinney has counseled corporate
leaders on
developing and maintaining positive working relationships
with
federal and state officeholders.
Prior to joining Public Opinion Strategies, Kinney was affiliated
with Moore Information Research Services. From 1985 to 1991,
Kinney
served as the Regional Director, Pacific Region, for the Republican
National Committee. Kinney also owned and operated his own
political
consulting firm. His most notable client for many years was
former
Governor George Deukmejian.
Kinney has resided in Southern California for twenty-six
years. Born
and raised in New Mexico, Kinney served in the United States
Air
Force from 1962 to 1966. He received his Bachelor of Science
Degree
in psychology from Sterling College, and has taken continuing
education courses in statistics and regression analysis from
U.C.L.A.
Kinney is married and lives in Redondo Beach, California.
